The multi-protocol engine receives requests in the network layer protocol layer, translates the binary session layer protocols to the HTTP ASCII session layer protocol, translates and accommodates any incompatibilities between the WWW server programs original HTTP session layer protocol, and additionally translates any binary data formats and to formats compatible with the WWW server programs original design. [sic]
So...it takes a binary protocol and wraps it around the HTTP protocol? Last time I checked, any Web browser using SSL has that feature. Whoop-dee shit!
